A parachute rigger is a person who is trained to inspect, pack, and repair parachutes. A rigger is required to understand the design and construction of both parachutes and containers, fabrics, hardware, webbing, regulations, sewing, packing, and other aspects related to maintaining parachute equipment. In the UK to become a parachute rigger you first need to qualify as an Approved Parachute Packer (Main Parachutes) and an Advanced Parachute Packers (Reserve Parachutes) To qualify as a BPA rigger you first need to become a Basic Rigger and after some time take the Parachute Riggers course, these links will take you to the detailed requirements of each course.
